Mr. Egan was the tough-talking NEW YORK officer whose exploits influenced the Academy Honor earning film The French Connection (1971). With partner Sonny Grosso, he handled a 112-pound heroin bust in 1962, one of the primary in New York’s background. Mr. Egan was nicknamed ‘Popeye’ and was performed in The French Connection (1971) by Gene Hackman. Mr. Egan performed the part of his personal manager.
