Mini Biography

Long considered the best Uk folk-rock bassist ever, Dave Pegg has spent nearly all his musical career using the groundbreaking band Fairport Convention, with whom he has played (bass and mandolin) since 1970. He also added his experience to the famous progressive rock-band Jethro Tull for 16 years (1979-1995). In his various musical roles, “Peggy” has appeared in a number of documentaries and filmed concerts during the period of nearly five decades. By 2014, he’s still going solid with Fairport, The Dylan Task, and additional merry musical lineups, frequently commuting between France and his house in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Peggy may also be seen (via video footage shot in Banbury) in his friend, writer-director Scott Allen Nollen’s, concert video “Nollen and Jacobsen: Live in Glenfiddich Home” (1996), which is focused on him. Through the video display, Nollen takes on a custom-made Scottish 5-string bass he obtained from Pegg in 1990. Pegg also added significant materials and an afterword to Nollen’s publication “Jethro Tull: A BRIEF HISTORY from the Music group, 1968-2001.”
