Traditional film-noir character actor most widely known for his jobs in The Set-Up (1949), THE FANTASTIC St. Louis Loan company Robbery (1959) as well as the Small Margin (1952), David Clarke produced his Broadway debut in “Journeyman” in 1938, and eventually made an appearance in “Abe Lincoln in Illinois” with Raymond Massey. He also performed on the Biltmore Theater in LA, where he captured the attention of agent Leland Hayward, resulting in his initial film function in Knockout (1941). More than another five years Clarke made an appearance in ratings of movies and Television shows (in the “Golden Age group” of live dramas to newer series), and was highlighted on Broadway in the initial productions of “A Watch in the Bridge”, “Orpheus Descending”, “The Ballad from the Sad Cafe”, “Inquest”, and “The Go to” with Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne.
