David Markey was created Dec 3, 1963 in Burbank, California. A Southern California indigenous, Markey produced his 1st film in 1974 at age 11. Due to his age group his parents wouldn’t normally enable him to observe “The Exorcist,” therefore he nabbed his father’s hand-wound 8mm Brownie video camera and produced, “The Devil’s Exorcist”. The cinematic insect bit the youthful David, and he continuing to make movies throughout his child years. In the dawn from the 1980’s, David became inspired from the LA underground hardcore punk scene (X, The Germs, Red Cross, Black Flag, The Minutemen, etc.) David started playing drums and created the music group Sin 34 with Phil Newman, Julie Lanfeld, and Mike “Geek” Cup. David made movies not unlike just like the Do-It-Yourself attitude within punk fanzines and rings. Markey’s films after that shown the music picture exploding around him, as observed in his 1982 documentary “The Slog Film: LA Hardcore Archives 1981-82”. In 1984 he directed and produced the underground Super-8 trash traditional “Desperate Teenage Lovedolls” for $250.00. Also that 12 months, New York’s Sonic Youngsters found themselves authorized to SST. Markey’s second music group Painted Willie was also around the label, along with a companionship grew between Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and David. You can view these alliances becoming forged in David’s brief movies “Astro Turf”, “Lou Believers,” and 1991’s outrageous “Rap Harm,” that was the template for Markey’s most noticed work, “1991: THE ENTIRE YEAR Punk Broke” a documentary feature starring Sonic Youngsters, Nirvana, The Ramones, Babes In Toyland, Dinosaur Jr. & Gumball.
