Douglas Shearer found MGM to go to his sister, Norma Shearer, and was hired as an associate in the camcorder division. When MGM made a decision to make audio photos, Douglas was appointed mind of the audio division. In 1928, Douglas got the silent ‘White colored Shadows in the South Seas’ to a fresh Jersey recording studio room where he added sound files and music. As was common in the first times, the music and sound files were recorded, however, not the dialogue. In 1929, Douglas developed the thought of playing the audio track to get a musical number such that it will be filmed in sync using the music. The film was The Broadway Melody (1929) which earned the very best Picture Oscar for 1929. It had been an ‘All-Talking! All-SingingAll-Dancing!’ film. Douglas earned his 1st oscar for audio recording using the Big Home (1930).
