Douglas Shearer found MGM to go to his sister, Norma Shearer, and was hired as an associate in the camcorder division. When MGM made a decision to make audio photos, Douglas was appointed mind of the audio division. In 1928, Douglas got the silent ‘White colored Shadows in the South Seas’ to a fresh Jersey recording studio room where he added sound files and music. As was common in the first times, the music and sound files were recorded, however, not the dialogue.
