Blues vocalist/guitarist Eddie Kirkland was probably one of the most prominent music artists in the blues picture in Detroit, MI, in the 1950s. Given birth to in Jamaica, Western Indies, he grew up in Alabama and was raised performing in his chapel choir, understanding how to play acoustic guitar when e regional blues singer provided him one. In his teenagers he journeyed to New Orleans and performed electric guitar on the roads for ideas. He eventually proved helpful his method to Detroit, where he fulfilled up with John Lee Hooker. Both teamed up and performed in a variety of nightspots in the town and even documented jointly. He became a mainstay in the Detroit music picture, and in 1961 documented an record with Ruler Curtis. Quickly afterward he shifted to Georgia, and proved helpful in blues night clubs around Macon. In the 1960s he documented some albums with John Lee Hooker for Bluesway Information and several by himself for Volt Information and King Information. In the 1970s he installed with the United kingdom blues-rock music group Foghat, which provided him a fresh group of fans. He continued to execute and record, launching the record “All over the Globe” in 1993 on Deluge Information. Eddie Kirkland died in Crystal River, FL, on Feb. 27, 2011.
