Edmonia Jarrett started her jazz and blues profession at age 55. Long associated with gospel performing in cathedral choirs, in 1991 Jarrett made an appearance in the function of Bessie Smith within a play on the life span of Janis Joplin, along with Duffy Bishop as Janis in Seattle, Washington.
