A tow-headed, delicate-looking kid actor from the 1920s, Billy Butts (given birth to William Charles Allen Butts) enjoyed some popularity as a sidekick of western superstars Fred Thomson and Rex Bell. He afterwards had taken over from Jack port Morgan in the favorite “Gumps” two-reel comedies, but his waif-like characteristics didn’t survive puberty and he retired on the ripe later years of 17.
