Googie Withers began her performing career at age 12. She was dance in the chorus within a Western world End revue when she was discovered with a Warner Brothers casting movie director. She visited do a display screen test on their behalf on the Riverside Studios and was asked to become an additional. On her initial trip to the filming of THE LADY in the Audience (1935) she appeared over the set soon after Michael Powell acquired just sacked the next business lead, and she was enlisted to try out among the lead roles.
