Janine Drzewicki was created in Nottingham for an British mom and a Polish dad and moved to London to teach as an actress in the E 15 theatre college. Shortly after departing she was presented with several small functions in tv dramas but experienced no agent, and positioned an advertisement in the ‘Limelight’ company catalogue with an image. Because of this she was contacted from the BBC to check for any play about incest, entitled BBC2 Playhouse: Diane (1975). Although she is at her early 20s the component was that of the 13-year-old woman but her audition was sufficiently convincing to earn her the part. The door therefore opened up to her to get more Television and stage functions and, whilst she was showing up in ‘Don Juan’ at Hampstead Theater, London, she was noticed by Mike Leigh who provided her the component of Angie in the stage creation of Play for Today: Abigail’s Party (1977), which she repeated in the tv screen edition.
