Manorama is a veteran Hindi celebrity acted in nearly 100 films. Her true name was Erin Issac Daniels. She was half-Irish, with an Irish mom and an Indian Christian dad.She started her career as a kid artist in 1926 in Lahore, beneath the name Baby Iris. Thereafter she produced her debut such as adult celebrity in 1941 to her last role in Drinking water in 2005, her profession increasing over 60 years.She began as a kid artist in Khazanchi (1941) under display name Manorama (distributed by Shoery) and grew into extremely successful and highly paid actress of Lahore.After partition she shifted to Mumbai. Acting professional Chandramohan suggested her to makers. Although she offered super-hit Punjabi film Lachchi, she was relegated to try out Dilip Kumar’s sister in Ghar Ki Izzat (1948). After her relationship to acting professional Rajan Haksar, she was slotted into personality roles and to villainous or comedienne tasks. After many years of relationship she got divorced.She switched to TV serials & shifted to Delhi for five years where she worked in lots of series.Her last film was Deepa Mehta’s Drinking water (2005) where she mesmerized Hollywood critics with her performance.
