She was a vivacious, kewpie doll-like dancer/entertainer of 1930s Broadway and Hollywood musicals. Dixie Dunbar was created Christine Elizabeth Dunbar in Montgomery, Alabama on January 18, 1918, and elevated in Atlanta, Georgia. Nicknamed “Tootsie” by her mom, she took dance lessions young and it had been quickly found that Dixie experienced a natural skill.
