Ralph M. Like bought the aged Charles Ray Studios in 1927 to begin with producing low-budget photos starring his wife, celebrity Blanche Mehaffey. He created Action Photos, Inc., and started to churn out some westerns, criminal offense dramas and actions/adventure photos (even while keeping his primary job like a studio room audio engineer).
