Boston-born Ray Nazarro began his movie career in the silent-film era, where he often worked as an associate director. He began his directing profession in 1932, you start with pants and graduating to low-budget quickie features for Poverty Row studios. He alternated between directing pants and an associate movie director on features–often on westerns at Columbia–for years. By 1945 he dropped into directing westerns for your studio room, a genre and a studio room where Nazarro would spent almost all his profession. He worked gradually for another twenty years, churning out tons of Columbia’s westerns, including many in the “Durango Child” series with Charles Starrett, and was on the helm of the slew of Columbia’s musical westerns and low-budget hillbilly musicals, which highlighted such works as The Hoosier Hotshots. As the period from the B traditional western finished, Nazarro journeyed to European countries, where he proved some “spaghetti westerns” and was one of the directors to focus on a bizarre and trouble-plagued Jayne Mansfield film, Einer Frisst den anderen (1964). He also came back to directing tv series, a moderate in which he previously occasionally worked because the early 1950s — once again, mainly in westerns.
