Having photographed and directed a huge selection of music movies and commercials during the last 15 years, Samuel Bayer provides firmly set up himself among the industry’s most prolific and sought-after talents. A 1987 graduate of NY City’s College of Visual Arts, Bayer was a painter who saw film and video as an ideal medium to provide his art to a larger audience. He released his profession with Nirvana’s “HAS THE AROMA OF Teen Heart,” a landmark video that MTV offers consistently rated among the most important music videos available. His decision to picture the Nirvana video himself infused it with a definite design and attitude that began him on the route he’s blazed since. His hands-on method of filmmaking so obviously imprinted on his function, Bayer selects to light, picture and operate the video camera on all his function. In 1997 his Packard-Bell “House” spot received the AICP for Cinematography, Path, and Production Style. His focus on Hill Dew “Showstopper” gathered the 2001 Clio Honours for Best Path and Greatest Cinematography. His additional commercial work contains promotions for Nike, Coke, Pepsi, Nissan, Lexus and Hill Dew and offers cemented his status as a visible revolutionary. Bayer’s advertisements are showcased in the long term film/video collection in the Museum of Contemporary Art in NEW YORK. His video for Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” swept the MTV music awards, garnering seven Moon Males including Best Movie director, Best Cinematography, Best Rock and roll Video aswell as the coveted Viewer’s Choice Honor. In 2005 Bayer was the receiver of the Kodak Life time Achievement Honor for his function and cinematography in music video clips and was honored in 2006 from the Music Video Makers Association along with his second Lifetime Accomplishment Award.
