Created in Kigali, Rwanda, from a Rwandese mom, Landrada, and a People from france dad, Jacques, the family members escaped towards the neighbouring nation of Burundi, the entire year prior to the civil battle started (1990), preceding the Tutsi genocide in 1994. Departing the family business (a printing firm), the family made a decision to proceed to France prior to the same ethnical battle between Hutus and Tutsis occurred in Burundi. Sonia was raised in Burgundy… Oct 1999: she was elected Miss Burgundy, opening the entranceway from the Miss France beauty contest, the biggest annual audience in the People from france TV. 11 Dec 1999: 8 million telephone voters determined that she’ll become Miss France 2000. She became also 9th at Miss Universe beauty competition.
