This choir was organized in Long Seaside, California in 1930 by William Ripley Dorr. By 1950, that they had made an appearance in over 90 images. After WWII, the Choristers stayed one of the most prolific young boys choir in film history. There is also a girl’s department of St. Luke’s Choir. The Choristers documented four albums for Capitol Information including the initial album available with a boy’s choir: “Xmas Carols with the St. Luke’s Choristers”, “Seasonal Hymns with the Saint Luke’s Choristers” and “Familiar Hymns with the Saint Luke’s Choristers” offering: soprano soloist: Philip Haynes and . In addition they performed every week at St. Luke’s Episcopal Cathedral and almost 400 concerts and broadcasts from 1930 to 1950. The illustrious St. Luke’s Quartet was made up of: Marilyn Horne, Gloria Horne, Philip Haynes, and Bob Adam. Academy Award champion George Chakiris was also a Chorister. They often times collaborated with Bronislaw Kaper, the famous MGM Musical Movie director, for the Cheaters (offering Philip Haynes-soloist), Bells of St. Mary’s and Sundown.
