Maurice Baquet is a multi-talented guy: gifted cellist (1st award on the Conservatoire de Paris), Skier (person in the 1936 France Olympic Group), hill climber(this talent found in many films, including ‘Top de Cableée’). He fascinated poet ‘Jacques Prevet”s interest when operating on his bike, keeping his cello, and shortly joigned Prevert’s famed theather Octobre group. Films followed quickly, and he became a preferred from the French public. He continues to be active in a number of fields, beyond films: a one-man present, music-hall, operettas (many of them with Luis Mariano; one of these was filmed – Andalousie (1951). He made an appearance on Broadway (‘My aunt’s feather’, with Liliane Montevecchi), and on the London stage. An excellent friend of famed professional photographer Robert Doineau, he had written “Ballade put violoncelle et chambre noire” adorned with wonderful photos of himself by Doisneau.
