Richard Farina was created for an Irish mom and a Cuban father. He was raised in the Flatbush community of Brooklyn, where his neighbours included Ramblin’ Jack port Elliott. He also briefly resided in Cuba. He journeyed throughout his childhood, a habit that later on became a central job in his restless lifestyle. Farina attended Cornell School, where he wrote tales and poems, and befriended classmates Peter Yarrow and Thomas Pynchon. Carolyn begun to resent this intrusion into her profession. While these were surviving in Europe in the springtime of 1962, Farina attended a bucolic folkie picnic in the French countryside, where he met Mimi Fariña, the teenage sister of Joan Baez. Farina started composing to Mimi quickly afterwards, plus they fulfilled again on the Edinburgh Folk Celebration. Carolyn still left him in nov 1962 to come back towards the U.S. to record her 4th album, and submitted for divorce. Richard and Mimi had been wedded secretly in Paris in 1963. That fall, they transferred to Carmel, California to reside in a one-room cabin, and acquired a second wedding ceremony in August for the Baez family members. In their small cabin, they started playing and developing their particular guitar-dulcimer duets. They debuted on the Big Sur Folk Celebration in 1964 and shortly won a documenting agreement with Vanguard, Joan’s label. They documented their first record that fall by using Bruce Langhorne, who afterwards performed for Dylan. The record premiered in Apr 1965, plus they appeared over the eclectic, radiant, and more and more competitive Cambridge folk picture of 1964-65. They befriended Eric Andersen, Judy Collins, Geoff Muldaur, Maria Muldaur and many more.
