American poet and writer, many of whose brief stories were filmed. The kid of the U.S. Military official who inculcated in Benet and his sibling, famed poet William Rose Benet, an understanding for brilliance in books, Benet grew up around military content. He went to Yale University, after that journeyed to Paris, where he fulfilled his wife, Rosemary Carr, and begun to compose skillfully. While in Paris once again on the Guggenheim Fellowship, he released the storyplot, The Sobbin Females, which afterwards became the foundation for the musical Seven Wedding brides for Seven Brothers (1954). He gained the Pulitzer Award in 1929 for his narrative poem over the American Civil Battle, “John Brown’s Body.” He also composed many radio dramas and some screenplays before his early loss of life at 44.
